Countryside, IL, has a residential area consisting of 5,991 residents per the 2000 Census and Countryside real estate has 2,818 total housing units; but its business base is part of the reason that it was never necessary to create a municipal real estate tax. Countryside was incorporated in 1960 and has around 400 businesses.

During the summer months you can see a free concert in the gazebo in beautiful Countryside Park that features a children's playground, roller blade tracks, tennis courts and more. This is one of the nicest village parks I've seen. Countryside Park is located between 59th St. and 61st St. about 1/2 block east of Brainard.
