Frankfort IL Real Estate

During my research for this page I was surprised to learn how divided Frankfort really is. It is shown as being in both Cook and Will County although every current listing on the Northern Illinois Multiple Listing Service (MLS), shows Will County. Our MLS does not separate Frankfor tfrom Frankfort Square or West Frankfort although the U.S. Census (shown below)shows these as separate areas.

The 2000 United States Census shows the following information:
Frankfort, Ilinios - Total population is 10,391, Frankfort real estate shows total housing units of 3,580
Frankfort Square, Illinois - Total population is 7,766 and Frankfort Square real estate shows total housing units of 2,376
West Frankfort City, Illinois - Total population is 8,196 and West Frankfort real estate shows total housing units of 3,973

For many centuries Frankfort was home to the Indian tribes of the Pottawatamie, Fox and Sac. It was incorporated in 1879 but remained a quiet farming community until the building boom of the 1970's and 1980's, during which time Frankfort's population doubled. Frankfort still offers vacant land and new construction and continued growth for residential and commercial is expected to continue.

Although Frankfort is considered a newer area it offers historic buildings and quaint shopping areas in it's downtown area. Frankfort has a popular outdoor art fair every year.
