Hometown IL Real Estate

If you drive through Hometown, Illinois most of the homes look like nice ranch style single family homes. But Hometown is a town of duplexes, two residences connected by one shared wall, each with separate entries and yards. Hometown does have, at last count, 7 single family homes among the total housing units of 1,938.2000 Census figures show a total population of 4,467. This town was specifically developed in the 1950'sas an affordable area for returning war vets.

To this day,many potential buyers I work with have never heard of this little town. I truly believe it offers the answer for people that don't like condo/townhouse living which reminds many of the apartments they are leaving behind, plus the assessment fees and lack of control over certain items associated with home ownership; and the fact that you sometimes don't own the property (land)and usually don't have access to a yard for pets, children or private use. Hometown offers yard space, land ownership and there are no assessment fees. It's nice to keep your half as similar looking as your neighbor's and many residences make exterior changes together if possible.

Because Hometown is one of the area's affordable suburbs with larger city amenities (sharing Oak Lawn's school district, library system & other features), many residents have added extra rooms to their existing duplexes and some have added second stories.Hometown does have it's own grade school, VFW and shopping area.It is less than a mile away from Christ Hospital and close to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park.
