It's a beautiful place and also one of the highest priced southwest suburbs in the area 2000 Census figures show a total population of 11,260 and Palos Heights real estate has 4,268 total housing units.
Palos Heights used to be farmland until Robert Bartlett builders purchased it in 1935 to build housing. Bartlett called it Harlem Heights until its incorporation in 1959 when the name officially became Palos Heights (named after Palos Township). Lots are large and the streets are tree lined. The newest subdivision is Westgate Valley on Ridgeland Avenue.
