Princess has found a home!  When I made the prior post trying to find a loving home for Princess, the German princess the german shepherdShepherd that was home alone in a house after her owner passed away, I had hopes for success but was pretty doubtful.

Thanks to the tip from Bern telling me to post an ad (it was free) in www.petfinder.com. I really didn't have much faith as there were so many ads.  Also, as I am a fan of tiny dogs I just didn't think there would be much interest in a 4 year old German Shepherd.

Lo and behold, I got a phone call soon after from a wonderful woman who offered to adopt Princess although she already had 2 large dogs and I wasn't sure if Princess would get along with them as she was an only dog.  This lady offered to bring Princess to better

UPDATE:  Princess has been rescued!  Thanks for the inquiries and read the story here.  Meet Princess, the sweetest German Shepherd I've ever met.  Although I love animals, German Shepherds were never dogs I would have considered bringing into my home.  However, if I didn't already have my legal limit of 3 dogs (for Oak Lawn), I would certainly take Princess in.

Have a great Chicago Suburb 4th of July

UPDATE:  This was originally posted in 2006.  Wherever you might celebrate, either in Chicago or one of the Chicagofireworks in Chicago suburbs, have a safe and happy 4th of July celebration. If you don't have any plans you might want to drive to Winnetka to see The New Invaders play.

I attended last year and the fireworks were great (so was the band). Bring a lawn chair or blanket. It is going to be a little colder tonight than it has been recently with less humidity. So dress accordingly. Check out my weather in Chicago page.

The celebration will be held at Duke Childs Field at Hubbard & Willow in Winnetka, IL, with the band starting at 6:30 and ending at 9:00 and the fireworks will be shot off afterwards.
