New Restaurant Critique - Listone in Palos Heights, Illinois
On Sunday we were busy the entire day and didn’t feel like cooking so we went on a trek for a local restaurant. We noticed a place we had never been to and decided to give it a try. It is called Listone and is located at 12200 S. Harlem Ave., Palos Hieghts IL 60463.
As I don’t dine out a lot, I’m not sure when Listone opened. I also can’t remember what restaurant was located there prior. It is very nice inside and out with a comfortable bar/lounge area to the left and the dining area to the right.
It has a wide variety of foods including appetizers, salads, sandwiches, steaks, seafood, chicken, pork, pasta and more. There was also a "specials" list. My husband ordered lamb shank and I had chicken breast in apricot glaze. I usually order fried shrimp when dining out since I don’t make it at home, but the chicken was a dish I had never tried so I decided to go for something different.
The bread bowl included several choices of artisan type breads. The slice I chose was a raisin or date & walnut bread which was so good I had to stop myself from having another piece. We started off with saganaki (flaming cheese) and we both chose soup, which was crab bisque. Both were great. My dinner was sweet, which was expected, and the chicken breast was tender. I was able to substitute the rice for garlic mashed potatoes, which were very good. There was also a side of perfectly cooked veggies including two carrot slices, broccoli and cauliflower.
I do not like lamb but I tried my husband’s dish since it looked so good. It was the best tasting lamb I’ve ever tried. Unfortunately, I didn’t have room for dessert. There is a full bar and I had iced tea which had free refills. Our entrees were each $12.99 and well worth the price.
From the exterior, my husband thought it was too fancy since he had denim shorts and a t-shirt on. We got in without any problem. I would definitely go there again and I recommend it. If anyone else has any comments on this newer restaurant, please leave them.
